Coupon Organization
I like to organize my coupons in a three ring binder with baseball card insert pages and “pencil pockets”. My binder is five inches in diameter and holds ALL of my coupons in one spot. This system works for me because I am not searching through multiple coupon files, envelopes, recipe boxes, shoe boxes, etc. — you get the picture.
The baseball card inserts make it easy to see all of my coupons.
I file mine two ways: the first is by type, “C” Cereal, “B” Butter, “P” Paper Products, etc.
Cleaning products, I like to file them by Manufacturer name “L” Lysol, etc.
I use the pencil pockets for those “letters” that don’t have that many coupons. Ex: (x,y,z). — Not too many coupons for those letters.
This system makes matching coupons to sale circulars so easy. It’s efficient, organized, and fast!
Additionally, I keep the Smart Source (SS), Red Plum (RP),P & G (PG) and Keebler/Kellogg’s (KB) inserts that come inside the Sunday paper. I put the date they were published, in the Sunday paper, on the front and file them away.
You’ll notice on my posts that I will list RP 6/7 etc. This indicates the coupon was published in the Red Plum insert on June 7th.
I use this method for the coupons I may or may not use. That way, if I find a good deal I can always go back to the insert and clip the coupon.
Some people like to use this method instead of clipping any coupons at all. They will put the date the coupon insert was published on the front and file it away. Then, when my articles are published they print the article, go to to their “stash” of inserts they have already dated and clip their coupons then. It’s efficient and EASY! Not very time consuming at all, because I’ve done the work for you! All you have to do is grab a pair of scissors and start clipping!
